Don't wait to travel with your kids.
Let's talk about these kiddos. Ages 6 and 8.
They experienced 3 countries during their last trip; France, Croatia, and Germany.
They flew on four flights, two of which were 7+ hours.
They had to adjust to new time zones.
They interacted with locals young and old from playing with local kids at playgrounds to ordering food off of a menu where "kids menus" and chicken nuggets weren't options.
They willingly wanted to try the local language out with common phrases for please, thank you, hello, and goodbye and more!
They swam in the Adriatic Sea and walked local markets.
They danced to strobe lights in Sipan and ate wayyyy too much Gelato because they "had to find the best".
They posed for tons of pictures both willingly (and unwillingly) because we didn't want to forget a second.
They challenged and pushed themselves to do things they were scared of or were hard like climbing hundreds of stairs to reach the tops of monuments and bell towers and were so proud when they reached the top!
"I can't believe my dreams are coming true" - Emma 8 years old when she first laid her eyes on the Eiffle Tower
Yes... they cried when they fell and scraped their knees. Yes... they sometimes needed a friendly reminder to use their manners. Yes... they asked for too many souvenirs and were bummed when we said no. Yes... they always had to use the bathroom at an inconvenient time.
Yes... they were kids!!!
The thing is... they were kids learning and growing their life skills using the world as their tool, opening and expanding their minds. They were kids realizing that English isn't the only language out there and that it's important to respect others culture. They were kids that had tons of questions about the world around them because their curiosity was peeked. They were kids that were learning outside of the four walls of their homes and schools. They were kids trying new foods and drinks to determine what they liked and didn't like. They were kids that were complimented on their willingness to speak and do and try by complete strangers.
