Ultimate Guide: 10 Fantastic Activities for a Non-Park Day at Walt Disney World

A trip to Walt Disney World is so much more than the parks. With the property being almost as large as San Francisco, there are tons of things to do when you are laying low on a non-park day. Here are some of my favorite ways to spend time at Walt Disney World when my family and I aren't hitting the parks from rope drop to sun down!

  1. Disney Springs: Explore Disney Springs, a vibrant entertainment and shopping district. You can dine at world-class restaurants, shop for Disney merchandise at the largest World of Disney store in the country, enjoy live entertainment, and even take a hot air balloon ride.

  2. Resort Hopping: Walt Disney World has some stunning resorts, each with its own unique theme and ambiance. Spend your day hopping from one resort to another, exploring their lobbies, dining options, and beautiful grounds.

  3. Mini Golf: Challenge your family or friends to a game of mini golf at either Disney's Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf or Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf. Have a vacation package? Stop by the front desk of your resort to receive 4 free vouchers for a round of mini golf at your choice of location.

  4. Water Parks: Cool off at one of Disney's water parks, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. They offer thrilling water slides, lazy rivers, and wave pools. Ask your travel agent about ticket options that include a visit to the water parks!

  5. Pool Day: Every Walt Disney World Resort has at least one themed pool for guests to enjoy. Splash around, join in on pool side games, and grab yourself a cold drink. Consider renting a cabana at your resort's pool area for a day of relaxation, complete with comfortable seating, shade, and amenities.

  6. Boat Rentals: Rent a pontoon boat, kayak, or canoe at select Disney resorts and enjoy a serene ride on the waterways. You can even go fishing or take a specialty cruise to view the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT fireworks without needing to enter the park.

  7. Character Dining: Make reservations for a character dining experience at one of the Disney resorts. It's a great way to meet your favorite Disney characters without entering the parks. Best part? No long lines to wait in!

  8. Spa Day: Treat yourself to a spa day at one of Disney's luxurious spas, such as Senses Spa at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. You can even get a character makeover!

  9. Golf: Play a round of golf at one of Disney's championship golf courses, like Disney's Magnolia or Disney's Palm Golf Course.

  10. Disney Boardwalk: Stroll along Disney's Boardwalk, an entertainment area featuring dining, shopping, and nightlife options. You can also rent surrey bikes or enjoy street performers.

How do you see yourself spending your non-park Disney day?
